Agata Krutul

I'm a painter, teacher, and scenographer. I prefer to work with small forms and spaces, as I enjoy detailed art. I bring my paintings to life by creating the decorations and costumes by myself, which is why my painting style strongly resonates with scenography.

I combine different artistic worlds using various techniques such as planes, textures, and bold colors. I playfully explore my subject, often placing them in unconventional backgrounds with a grotesque and surreal approach. My paintings often depict houses, boats, bikes, birds, and horses, although new themes constantly emerge. I take up topics that interest me the most and translate them into my unique style, characterized by a sense of distance and a distorted approach to the world.

I graduated from the Faculty of Painting with a specialization in stage design from the Jan Matejko Art Academy in Krakow (https://www.asp.krakow.pl/), and the Art Department of the Institute of Fine Arts at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (https://www.umcs.pl/en/faculty-of-arts-umcs.htm).
