Morris Kurz was born in 1941 in the bohemian village of Ravenswood in Indianapolis, Indiana. From early childhood Morris had developed a love and skill for fine art. He has been selling his artwork since the early nineteen seventies. His oil paintings can be found in galleries throughout the Midwest and most recently on the west coast. His style ranges from representational to impressionistic specializing in cityscapes and landscapes. Morris is an avid supporter and proponent of human rights. One of his city murals depicts a young woman of diversity in a chemistry lab encouraging women to pursue science as a career choice. He has donated many of his art pieces to fundraisers for battered and abused women and recovering addicts. Morris has participated and placed in several art competitions such as “Paint the Forests,” sponsored by Redwood Forest Foundation, Hoosier Salon and several Plein Air art competitions in the Midwest. His work has been published on the cover of mechanical magazines as well as books e.g. Painting Indiana III. His paintings have been displayed in medical, governmental and corporate offices and lobbies and can be seen on murals throughout Indianapolis.
