Patience is a Virtue (Spectacled Bear) Painting

Hi! I’m Lucy. I’m a self-taught wildlife artist currently based in the UK. Having been fortunate enough to grow up in the countryside, I spent much of my childhood experiencing British wildlife in harmony with my every day life. I continue to take inspiration from this today, driving my desire to use my skills as an artist to share my experiences and passion for wildlife, and raise awareness for the conservation of all species, both at home in the UK, and further afield. My work focuses on the expression and personality of each animal. Combining bold colours, simplified forms and fine detail work, each piece centres on the eye of the animal to bring the piece to life. By removing the subject from its context, the viewer observes the animal itself, undistracted by the environment around it to emphasise and evoke their true character. For me the joy of being an Artist is the journey. I am always looking for ways to challenge and develop my skills, allowing ideas to flow as the painting develops to create something unexpected and beautiful.
