Ibon Mainar (1978) uses visual multimedia and everyday material to create whimsical and colorful works. Whether he is creating gifs, torn cardboard collages, Instagram videos, video projections, or sculpting gum and popcorn, Mainar’s aesthetic is contemporary and playful. With simplicity and humor, Mainar has developed a visual language that feels novel and universal, across a variety of media platforms. Mainar lives in San Sebastian (Basque Country, Spain). Art has always been Mainar’s passion, he is considered to be self-taught and throughout his lifetime has worked as both an artist and an art assistant.
