Born in a small rural village outside the town of Carmarthen in South Wales, Daniel moved to the capitol city Cardiff in 1999 to study fine art painting at the University of Wales Institue. Graduating in 2001 ( gaining a 2:1 Hons Degree), Daniel continued to paint large scale Pop inspired paintings from his rented studio space and has colaborated in several group shows in and around Cardiff.
Daniel's work, heavily influenced by 1960s pop art and contemporary photorealist painting, often takes the form of large-scale oil and acrylic paintings that explore themes relating to consumerism and cultural identity.
Juxtaposing imagery and objects drawn from pop culture and everyday life, Daniel’s paintings invite the viewer to create individual narratives and interpretations for each work. His current series of still lifes takes broad, universal themes – such as war, love, death – and turns them into “domestic totems” constructed from household ornaments and found objects.
