Chandranath Das, AMA is the former Chief Curator of the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling. As a restorer and a senior museum consultant by profession, he holds a graduate degree from the Government College of Arts Kolkata, postgraduate degree from Italy and an Associateship of the Museums Association from the United Kingdom. His fascination with the semiotics of museum display and art conservation has made him the first AMA holder from outside the UK in the field of Museology. He is also a qualified mountaineer and an avid painter rendering wondrous visual and artistic illustrations on his canvas. His paintings can be seen gracing the walls of the Rashtrapati Bhavan museum in India, Modern Art Gallery, Edinburgh and other prestigious museums and galleries.
In 2023, my creation - Himalayan Range Poster and 3D Model in a single frame has created HARVARD WORLD RECORDS .
My formal training was in fine art from the Government College of Art, Kolkata which was followed by Master and Research degree (AMA) in Cultural Heritage & Restoration from Italy and UK. I have to my credit several awards which include “Senior Fellowship of Trevor Walden Trust” (UK) and “Senior Scholarship by Ministry of Higher Education” (Italy). An avid visitor of local museums my interest in visual arts and historical research has been a paramount source of inspiration in my life. My fascination with the semiotics of museum display and art conservation has made me the first AMA holder from outside the UK in the field of Museology.
