Christy Jaynes

Growing up, no matter where we lived, our house was decorated with paintings my mom had made in a time before I could remember. I think this is what gave me permission to be an artist.

Over the years, I have amassed and purged a great quantity of art works. Some pieces reached the light of day and have found homes on walls around the country. Many have been stowed, given, trashed, or donated.

In my current evolution as an artist, I am liberated. I have found mental freedom in my confinement and it has given me access to an inner freedom I’ve never had before.

All of my new works explore those evolving mental spaces where new thoughts and old memories co-mingle and the visual slideshow that runs through my head gets to escape in small bursts onto the surface.

While I took art classes in school, I did not major in art. That never stopped me from painting, drawing, and creating. Art was inevitable for me.
