Cathérine Martens

Cathérine Martens (B. 1964) is an artist born in Bruges.
She loves focusing on texture and movement, applying lots of layers to achieve the desired effect, somewhere between reality and the imagination. Sometimes she uses photographic material but often the images are created without a visual aid.

Cathérine attended different academies in Flandres where she received classical training in anatomy, light and shadow. Drawing was her first passion. After graduating she continued studying art but turned her attention to painting in oils.
