Valérie David is a French artist currently living and working in the North East of France. Painting is a fundamental part of her life which began since childhood. She has always been passionate about Art & humanity and the relation between the two. She studied in Duperré School of Applied Arts in Paris where she obtained a degree in Fashion Design. She later studied in Decorative Art School of Strasbourg. She has worked in a variety of artistic fields as mural artist, jewelry designer, and also as an illustrator for the animated film Kirikou. Her reasons for creating art has evolved over the years. Younger, she was more caught in the academic side of art. Today she uses art as a means of expressing thoughts, feelings, concepts. She believes that painting has the power to express emotions and to become emotions. Her creative process is based on these keys elements: humanity, energy and connection, while using the physicality of paint. Her medium of choice is acrylic combined with oil pastels on canvas. She works with colour combinations and contrasts to create and maintain balance and she has passion and dedication for the process itself.
