The current artwork of Gunta can be described as the Indigo period. It is the domineering color in her artworks and in each piece it opens up new worlds of imagination. Her unique technique makes every piece an uncopieable original. The way color lives and the hints of texture in her works make every painting an eye catcher. Gunta has always explored themes that go beyond the imagination. Her artwork series Snake's way explored the ways how life and nature can make a direct transition makes it to art. Some may have been shocked by the artwork that features carefully preserved, fully dried snakes that died as roadkill on forest paths, but Gunta's goal was to make people think about the meaning of life. In her Indigo series Gunta explores the mysteries of the universe, the paranormal and existence. The characters and settings often seem surreal yet at the same time very familiar. The topicality and characters of the works have a wide variety. Gunta has explored sea life in series that brings to life what we often ignore as we walk on the beach as idle tourists. The fine ondulations of the sand and the footprints of jellyfish that are left in the sand caught her attention. The harmony of color in these works might deem them as her Beige period. Sometimes Gunta drifts into a more classical style, inspired by nature, creating a different perspective of flowers and landscape on canves. The marine theme is a favorite of hers because she lives close to the Baltic sea. In nearly every one of her works there is a connection to the sea, from the saturated deep blue oIndigo to sea landscapes and ships in her work. Art is Gunta's life. When she is not busy in her studio creating new works she teaches art classes and organises exhibitions. She has a MA in Fine Art.
