Cassandra Puren

Acutely aware that I am living in a severely damaged world – a world where all eco-systems are struggling to find a new balance - I am moved to capture the essence of natural scenes on canvas – not precisely – that’s the photographer’s terrain – but the quintessence of whatever has my attention, thereby hoping to share my experience with others.
My work is primarily done in oils but I find acrylics an interesting medium to work in as it forces me into a more uninhibited style than when working in oils.
Currently I live in George on the Garden Route, Western Cape.

My education lies primarily on the academic side and have a BA degree in History, English Lit and Sociology, as well as a History Hon. degree. As far as painting and drawing are concerned, I am mainly self-taught although I have taken advice and guidance from a number of trained artists.

My work has been exhibited at SCAVA, (Southern Cape Association for Visual Arts) and WAA, (Wilderness Arts Association).
