Pawel Czekanski was born in 1989 in Lublin, Poland. He’s a 2014 graduate from the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław, from the Faculty of Painting and Sculpture, and he completed his sculpture diploma in the studio of prof. Janusz Kucharski. He’s been a participant in outdoor sessions, international art symposia and group exhibitions. He pursues sculpture and photography. He lives and works in Wrocław.
My creative activity is mainly based on primary symbols and cultural references which are recognised by our consciousness. Building the vision of a world often rooted in the philosophy of fatalism, while balancing on the verge of perversity and irony, I am looking for new ways to talk about the absurdities of the modern world. It is very important for me to look for a dialectic between man and the surrounding reality, which is why I often reach for emotional and historical charges strongly embedded in culture.
