Keep investing in your childlike imagination is one of Herman's many quotes. He once traveled around the world as a technical photojournalist, nowadays he has been enjoying the beautiful, untouched nature in South Africa for almost 18 years now.
Herman finds inspiration in the same nature. The perfect photo in the early morning is just the beginning of his creative journey:
" I like to explore the possibilities and limits of digital art, I just let it flow to see where it can go, sometimes the end result appears quickly, sometimes the creative process takes months and other times the creation dies in its own beauty".
University of Hard Life. First photography teacher (for 2 days) was the known Dutch photographer and documentary maker Ed van der Elsken who in his younger days did all the darkroom work for Bresson in Paris (Magnum). His motto was to shoot continuously and hope that every 250 images contain one worth publishing. I prefer to work more with the eye than the camera.
