Working as a contemporary artist from a studio in Somerset, England. Alistair trained as a photographer and has travelled extensively during a long career for international advertising and editorial clients. More recently he has been creating kinetic mobiles from various materials, and enjoys working with balance and connection to create a free-flowing (kinetic) form. He became fascinated with how a delicately tuned mobile will respond to the movement of the air around it, and is in almost constant motion. Observing this natural movement of the piece creates a very calming experience. As each arm of the mobile slowly glides with the air flow, it takes up a new position within the arrangement, and in doing so, alters the angle and position of each subsequent arm, creating a dynamic dance within the piece.
