Claudia Lima

MY artwork encompasses sculpture, painting, drawing, tapestry, vídeo performance and installation.
I was born in Rio de Janeiro and I have Swiss nationality.
My first contact with art was at the age of 12, at the Children's School of the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro - MAM.
What delights me most in life is creating, and in doing so, I'm thrilled to be surprised by my work. ART makes me feel free.

At the age of seven she joined the Children's Art School at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro under the guidance of Ivan Serpa. From 1961 to 1970, she took part in several group exhibitions at the museum itself, winning several awards and being invited to represent the school at international events. Her work was immediately reproduced in magazines such as ‘Gam’ in an article by critic Mário Pedrosa. In 1967, as a representative of MANM and Brazil, she won the gold medal at an international painting exhibition organised by the United Nations. In 1979 he graduated in Law from Cândido Mendes in Rio de Janeiro, where he took part in the 1st Plastic Arts Exhibition organised by the University. In 1980 she settled in Lisbon and began a painting course at AR-CO. In 1984 she attended the Aubusson International School of Decorative Art in France on a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, devoted herself to tapestry and took part in the 102nd Salon des Femmes Peintres et Sculpteurs as Portugal's representative. In 1987 she collaborates in the formation of the Cultural Cooperative ‘The Art of Tapestry and Textiles’.
