M Najaka

Painter, located in NYC. I grew up in the Mid-West. The focus of my paintings is the exploration of light and the use of abstract shapes to create realism.I would like viewers of my paintings to experience them from their perspective without the interjection of my concepts and work process. The hope is for the viewer to enter a dialogue with the art that avoids preconceived notions or my conceptual influences. Art is about the experience, both in the creation and in the viewing of it. My work will continue to evolve and change; that is after all the impetus to create.

I had a lengthy career as an illustrator and graphic designer. I am now focused on figurative painting. My work is included in private and public collections. I am a signature member of the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society.
