Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1958, Sylvie Ball studied art and art history at Washington University in St. Louis and received a BFA in painting from the School of Visual Arts in 1982. After working at several jobs including a limited edition print gallery, Miss Ball found employment working for Julian Schnabel in 1985 and worked as his assistant for over 4 years.
