Barbara Pitcher

Barbara Pitcher is a Canadian/Italian, living in Provence, France, who has been painting for 35+ years. Barbara initially worked in Fashion and Interior Design while studying art in Toronto, Munich, France and Italy. Since spending more time in France, she has dedicated herself to the life of painting. Her style is loose and impressionistic as well as abstract. Firmly rooted in the tradition of acrylic, her painting has evolved into a spirit of exploration. Her personal vocabulary which includes acrylics, oils, and mixed media as well, all evoke a sense of excitement of the journey.

Whether it be a scattering of flowers, a single magnificent blossom or a terrain of a place remembered, there is always a hidden mystery in the underpainting. This aspect of Barbara's work is what lies at the heart of her creations. Her use of layering evokes a cadence, which echoes back to the moment of original inspiration.
