Chandu Mhatre is based in New Delhi and Mumbai, India; he has been a news and feature photographer for over 40 years, having extensively shot most major news events of recent Indian history.
Throughout his career he has worked for a wide variety of media groups and organizations. His photos have appeared in leading publications in India and around the world as well have been used by global institutions. Some of those include UNICEF (Public Information Department) in New York, Fortune, Forbes, Time, Newsweek, The New York Times, Forbes, Geo, The Times London, The Independent, The Guardian, The Telegraph, Marg Publications, CBS 60 Minutes, Debonair, India Today, Bombay Magazine, The Illustrated Weekly of India, Onlooker, Mirror, Imprint, The Times of India, Indian Express, Mid-Day, Free Press Journal, Indian Post, The Independent.
With his camera Chandu has been witness to seminal events that have shaped India’s history in the past four decades, the rise of the Naxalite movement in West Bengal in 1970,
