By creating tension and balance between figurative forms and the abstract field, my artwork serves to represent intimacy.
As a woman and migrant, I live in a world not made for us. I've seen bodies and souls break, and witnessed resilience bloom.
Color plays an essential role in my work. It is the ingredient that creates the tension in my paintings.
Liz Gartz was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
She acquired her formal artistic training at the Offentlichen Volkshochschule in Koln, Germany. She also studied at the School of Visual Arts of the Universidad Autonoma de N.L.,Monterrey, Mexico.
Liz graduated with a degree in architecture from the School of Architecture, Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, MX.
While residing in Monterrey, MX, Liz Gartz taught classes at the Arte A.C. (Art Institute) and the School of Visual Arts of the Universidad Autonoma de N.L., Monterrey, Mexico.
Her work is in many public and private collections around the world.
After having lived and worked 10 years in France, Liz Gartz currently resides and works in Valencia, Spain
