Kate Williams

I make paintings from small paper studies and scale them up on to canvas. These are formed from shape and colour fields, applying the paint to create defined line and thick texture.
In others the surface is quite chaotic and colourful without much thought, just reaction.. I like the contrast in making and the different outcomes of the materials that this allows.

Materially and surface have become the primary aspects in my practice. These focuses translate to both paintings and three dimensional sculptural work.
