I am an undergraduate at Edinburgh College of Art studying a BA (Hons) in photography. I am very passionate about documentary photography and like to use my camera as a tool to explore; a key into worlds unfamiliar to me. I am interested in the environment, communities and sustainability which led me to document a housing co-op for my project Mud. Mud was created at Talamh Housing Co-op, South Lanarkshire. Here I created a series of portraits of the people who live at Talamh, and through still lifes I documented the environment in which they live.
Though I use photography as a way to collate primary research from new experiences I also like to document my own life as I know it and things that are close to me. My main subjects are my family and friends. I often use snapshot photography to document my subjects and capture life as it happens. The snapshot style exemplifies the raw, spontaneity of my work; this is real, this is happening.
