Jason Zahra

Jason is a painter and illustrator of various styles and different media for different ends. Principally a surrealistic and abstract artist, he has a fondness for satire and caricature, with a hint of humour fantasy and the whimsical. Nevertheless, there is a realistic and a sober aspect to some of his work too. His different genres of works are ongoing series which are added to from time to time, whether it is his Aviary, Abstract, Allegoric or any other style he employs.

World events, social affairs and politics draw his attention, but he can be inspired by everything and anything seen, heard or felt. His expression can be direct or ambiguous. What is prevalent throughout his work is light, movement and flow, hardly any black is employed, leaning towards enlightenment.

Although he could say that he is self-taught, he does not feel that would be exactly right. His reasoning is that by having observed other great artists, then he has learnt from them. These are his lessons in themselves and besides this, having used text books helped him a lot.

To be precise, the only formal training he has had in the past, was to get to know how 'Fresco' painting is done. A subject he found interesting, but does not employ.

Participated in a Global Digital Collective Artwork that was showcased on a giant billboard in the streets of Manhattan.
