Aleksander Sobek

Through painting I search for an order in the chaotic world that
surrounds us... Every picture constitutes a renewed attempt to find
'lapses in the Matrix', some evanescent traces of at least a semblance
of a pattern, glimpses of the world's overall structure, enabling to
overcome chaos and complete the quest for meaning... I try to combine
expression, free gesture, and the art's vibrant, spontaneous matter
with the form of geometrical construction - hoping to bring together
these seemingly incompatible elements and to reconcile them in the
unity of a painting.

I studied artistic education at the Pedagogical University of Cracow
graduated in 1984 with the diploma dissertation 'Light in painting'
supervised by prof. Janusz Orbitowski
