Born in East London and trained at Chelsea School of Art, Joy has worked as a professional artist in many areas of art and design. Her abstracts take their inspiration from jazz and classical music, while museums, dreams and myth are often the starting point for her charcoal and pastel drawings.
Joy has a permanent solo exhibition of her work at the new Watford School of Music, designed by the award winning architect, Tim Ronalds.
A former lecturer in Life Drawing for several years, Joy is also an experienced art coach and mentor. Helping people with creative difficulties led her to create her 'Art for the Soul' workshops.
In 2018, Joy's work was selected by the Museo D'Arte and the Gagliardi Gallery, London, to be exhibited at the Chianciano Biennale in Tuscany, in August. Her work was featured in the Saatchi magazine.
