#JULIJA ALESKERE

Born in Riga, Latvia, in 1978, I am a self-taught artist whose work explores the relationship between colour, symbols, nature, and the human experience.

My artistic practice brings together abstract painting, expressive landscapes, and **runic art** — a distinctive direction in which I incorporate ancient runic symbols into contemporary visual compositions. Through colour, form, texture, and symbolism, I seek to create artworks that invite viewers to discover their own associations, emotions, and interpretations.

My connection with art began in childhood, inspired by the beauty of nature and the desire to capture fleeting moments, feelings, and impressions. Over the years, painting has evolved into a personal language through which I explore both the visible world and the deeper meanings that symbols can convey.

In my runic paintings, ancient symbols become an integral part of the artistic composition. They connect visual expression with ideas of transformation, strength, heritage, growth, and the human journey. Each painting develops its own character and invites a personal encounter with the image.
