Alina Kashitsyna

I'm a Ukrainian multidisciplinary artist and architect, living and working in Athens, Greece.

The elements of my Ukrainian identity and heritage can be found throughout all my work. The place of my permanent residence, Greece, has contributed a lot to my establishment as an artist. While a strong architectural background has shaped my aesthetics and the essence of space and shape.

Although I often work on the "crossroad" of art disciplines, the main directions of my work are: acrylic and mixed media fine art, digital collage and conceptual installation.

My artistic process can be very different. While digital collages and conceptual installations are usually emotionally-saturated artworks reflecting on social and political issues, the fine art paintings are conceived in the result of thoughtful work and meditative state of mind.

My fine art can't but integrate with architectural background, exploring the boundaries between architecture, visual art and folk art. It shows my will to overcome the limits of the discipline, and to question myself, as well as the viewer. Geometric abstractions on canvas often resemble floor plan drawings.
