Andy Caitling

Andy Catling is an English based illustrator

Andy grew up in East Anglia he lived with blue skies and a ruler straight horizon, he imagined living in a land of big bumps. Andy is currently living in Hampshire which is a place of subtle bumpish nature which he says will acclimatize himself before the next incremental move toward the ultimate 3-dimensional landscape.

Andy studied at Norwich school of Art and Design where he learnt a great deal about animation, biscuits and why penguins are bad? Personal inspiration of Andy's are Victor Ambrus who he wishes was his granddad, as well as Edmund Dulac and Arthur Rackham who he also wishes they had bee his great great Grandad. Andy uses a combination of drawing and painting.

When Andy was asked what he would be if he was not an illustrator he said I'd be a knight with a whopping great castle and a seriously snorty horse. That's definitely what I would have been, no doubt about it. Trouble is, they are all extinct now (knights I mean, not horses.)
