Ariadna Dane (b. 1984) is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Berkshire, UK. Through her upbringing in Siberia and travelling, she had discovered a connection to nature which became a source of inspiration for her evolving biomorphic art practice.
The creative process involves experimentation with techniques to imitate and amplify nature. The artist creates forms and textures with natural aesthetic quality, reminiscent of organic cells, celestial structures, coral reefs, woodland. Due to the nature of the technique used, the process of making is fluid and alive. The resulting forms and textures are partially chance and partially calculation; the outcome of
both ceding the artist’s control over the process and being acutely aware of the development of forms and textures. Just like in nature, every resulting element is unique and cannot be repeated.
To complete her compositions, Ariadna uses a combination of collage and cutout techniques. While echoing shapes of the ink elements, the cutouts represent their stark contrast, highlighting the disparity between existence and nonexistence. Ariadna Dane’s work has been exhibited in a range of galleries, fairs, and alternative spaces, including Galerie Tracanelli (Grenoble), Fulham Town Hall (London), Soho Revue Gallery (London), Gallery@OXO (London) and Art Below at Regent’s Park Station (London). She has participated in curated group shows such as ‘A Way with Colour’ and ‘Art in the Age of Now,’ as well as several editions of Wimbledon Art Fair. Her work has also been showcased in Bhuti Richmond (London), City Arts Newbury and various virtual exhibitions. Her solo and group exhibitions have explored themes of organic abstraction and materiality.
