Athul Ghosh

I was born and brought up in Kerala, a beautiful state in South India. Since childhood, I was fascinated by the hues and forms in nature. Sketching, drawing and painting made me happy. My parents nurtured the artist inside me with an unconditional supply of papers and colours. But it was my uncle, Anoop Sadasivan, an artist himself, who introduced me into the world of art, its history, styles, techniques and its masters.

Dreams, mind and the question- "The purpose of our existence?" intrigues me. I have realised that art is the best medium to communicate my ideas, quest and emotions. Salvador Dali and his style of art, surrealism, has a great impact on me and my thought process. Viktor Frankl and Christopher Nolan are among a few other personalities who have influenced me. But my greatest inspiration and strength comes from my mother, Lali.

Oil paint is my medium of preference. Slow drying characteristics of oil paint gives me the luxury of time which allows me to involve with the painting to a greater depth.

I am a mechanical engineer by profession and have been associated with manufacture of aero-engines since 2008.
