Atsuko Saito was born and raised in Yamagata, Japan. Ever since being a young girl, she was fascinated by the phenomena caused by pigmentation of colour and water. In 2010, she completed her BA in Art and Design at Tohoku University, where she majored in Japanese Painting.
She adores many things that are in her house. Through her paintings, she also expresses a slight sense of incongruity with her belongings. Feelings such as embarrassment for holding on to too many items, or bitter memories that are attached to them.
