Carl Hawthorn

Hi, I'm Carl Hawthorn, and I'm pleased to meet you on the Saatchi Art website. I hope you love the paintings, and please understand that I have a mild knowledge of the arts, so please wish me well in the art world.
I was born in Wednesbury, West Midlands, and I was raised in the Hilltop area until I was 6 and a half years old, then my family moved to Great Barr, where I still live now.
I live in Birmingham, where I live at home with my brother.
I'm a painter who uses oil paints, I try to make beautiful paintings to the best of my ability.
I was a technical representative at Coca-Cola Enterprises until I had a stroke in 2008, working for Coca-Cola Enterprises changed my life in a very good way, and whilst working at Coca-Cola Enterprises they allowed me the opportunity to go on an expedition to Mountain Mckinley in Alaska, United States of America, where I summited with a team, which was a very big feat for me to achieve. I have been learning how to be a painter since 2009 and painting in oils has given me much help with my recovery after the stroke. Without painting using oils, I don't believe that I would have managed to get this far in my personal recovery.

I don't have an awful lot of Art education, or should I say I have not been educated at an Art school or at an academy, but I have used (Workshop DVDs) from Johnnie Lilledahl and painting books to help me learn.
I attended Whitecress Primary School Great Barr, then Dartmouth High School, now known as Academy School.
I left school and I did an apprenticeship with Saab Cars UK for just under four years as a motor vehicle engineer.
I attended training courses at Saab U.K Cars and training at Coca-Cola Enterprises.
The education that I had in my life and at the workplace as a technical person, has put me in a satisfactory position to learn about being an amateur painter in oils in particular.
I have tried a few different mediums for a short time, a couple of months, so I used oil paint from 2009, so oil linseed in particular works well for me, all of the paintings here under my name on the website are made using oil paints.

In some respects, I believe that I'm not pushing the Art world forward because I don't seem to work at a top level as an Artist, but I just continue to do the best possible tasks as a painter, as you can see on Saatchi Art there are a lot of talented Artists on the website in my opinion.

All I ask is that the person who does buy one of the paintings, please let the painting go to a loving place and caring, for the making of the paintings was, and is very special to artists.
There is a painting in the U.S.A. that I gave to say thank you for my time as an employee of a Company in Atlanta.
I have tried to be as fair as possible to the prices of the paintings, I'm quite a slow painter and an Artist, and most of the materials that I use are excellent high grade, but I can't compare myself to other Artists, because of the speed I work at, and the theory of using many layers, and most of the time I find it hard to choose the subjects, If someone reads this please be compassionate with my weaknesses, and please bear with my personality also, and my problems also, I wish you all Artists of all kinds, and collectors, and the general visitors to Saatchi Art company website, thank you for reading and viewing, and please enjoy using the website looking and viewing other artists.
