Chrissie Mclaughlin

Life and light in the vibrant wet tropics fuel my creativity. For two decades, my studio in Cape Tribulation National Park has been my sanctuary, where I draw inspiration from the world around me.

Travel and nature are at the heart of my artistic journey. Each artwork begins with a vision that captivates me, leading to exploration and organic development. My passion for colour and light drives me to experiment with a range of mediums, allowing me to discover my true voice through hands-on experience.

At present, I am thoroughly enjoying the art of paint-making. My process begins with plein air watercolour painting, followed by grinding pure pigments by hand to create the perfect blend of consistency and hue. I seek pigments from around the globe, curating the most vibrant and pure colours that best express my artistic vision.
