Clinton Kirkpatrick, born in 1984, lives and works in Belfast, Northern Ireland. His newer works make explorations into language and the characteristics of paint. Clinton is fascinated by the surrounding culture that we live in and how we interact with the world and one another. His new paintings explore surreal characters, landscapes and narrative using vivid colour. Contradiction, the media, social commentary, utopia and dystopia are recurring themes within his work. Misery, it seems, can be a common, contemporary state of being and Clinton often explores this theme in his work. Clinton Kirkpatrick's work is dynamic, expressive and emblematic of modern life in all its simple, complexity. He is a painter and printmaker. His printed works are created using copperplate etching, monotype and woodcut.
