Joerg Crone

Joerg Crone was born in Münster in 1967. He starts oil painting at the age of 15, first exhibitions in small galleries follow. After school he works in a gallery and design agency. An exhibition there with drawings by Joseph Beuys, "Man, could he draw!" was formative. Joerg Crone studied visual communication in Münster, later Düsseldorf. Further stations are Frankfurt and Hamburg, where he works as a freelance illustrator, creative director in international advertising agencies and independently. During his professional career he has received national and international awards. In addition to his professional occupation with design, he paints thematic series of mostly large-format oil paintings. One of the themes is provocative depictions of angels, which attract media attention and are exhibited on the Reeperbahn in Hamburg. Experimental oil techniques and series of motifs on contemporary themes follow: Digitality, love, war and peace or the absurdity of the everyday. In 2021, the first monkey portraits were created. Expressively realistic paintings, a crossover of classical painting and pop art. Here, too, the themes of our time are reflected: warriors and drunkards, clowns and philosophers, heroes and tyrants.
