My painting is a reflection of the space I am, inspired by the surrounding landscape or even a time of day, a glimpse of light or a movement in the trees that can be the starting point for my abstract compositions.
I try to make almost 3 dimensional abstract spaces that you could enter and move through and around. Visually reminiscent of a place or completely unrecognisable so the audience can bring there own ideas and feeling to the images.
My influences ranges from minimalist sculptors such as Donald Judd and Richard Serra to abstract expressionism and colourfield painters like Rothko and Helen Frankenthatler. The emotion and power in the these artist compositions is something I look for when painting. A lot of my more visually expressive and colourful works take inspiraiton from New York street art, Keith Haring or more recently Fiona Rae.
