David Spillane

Dave Spillane is a 23 year old abstract artist from Tralee, Co. Kerry and now based in Waterford city. From an early age Dave always had a keen interest in drawing and later painting and found these activity's to be a great scapegoat from his suffering of Cystic Fibrosis.
Painting has helped Dave through some of his darkest and most trying battles with CF.

During the summer of last year, he developed his own style of painting called 'Squigs'. A riot of vibrant colour covered with a black surface reverberates with these tiny swarming shapes. Also more often or not this style of painting includes hidden meaning or messages that aren't visible to the eye on first viewing.

Apart from the obvious need to make a living, through his art his hopes to help contribute towards the development of facilities in Ireland of the Cystic
Fibrosis units (especially in Cork University Hospital where he attends) and towards the research of new drugs for many like him that suffer this often or not invisible fight.
