Deborah Cooke

My work is driven by a strong sense of connection to the city, looking at buildings and the way modernist architecture influences our perspectives. I am drawn to shapes and patterns within the seemingly bleak concrete structures I find and representing these through a process of abstraction. I like the idea of stripping away what I see in order to draw focus to the drama happening within the small spaces, by depicting movement and optical play.
