Gerda Kruimer

VISUAL THINKING
Gerda Kruimer, Dutch visual artist and art curator, studied Monumental Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and Drawing and Art History 1st degree at the Amsterdam University of the Arts. Various works by Gerda Kruimer are based on an identical grid or are variations on a type, reduced to the essence.
The works of the ‘Punatic’ series are 20 x 24 cm, all acrylic paint on wooden panel. To get the intense dark colors, Gerda paints green and blue paint in many layers. The subject lead to new modest reduced work. Eventually, the artworks do not refer to anything other than itself.
Gerda makes drawings, paintings, three-dimensional work and work commissioned. She exhibits in the Netherlands and abroad.
