Gillian Frazier

I have always been an artist.I was born on a farm in Vermont and grew up in small towns in New England. I love nature and that is why my work harkens to landscapes and light.
I love to explore light and color using the landscape and simplifying the imagery to symbolic forms. My Calligraphic series
is a series that I created over a period of five years. Here I took the image of a bare tree and kept simplifying it until it became a calligraphic form. I then added these forms to my compositions.
My work often eludes to tapistries or weavings, thus the repetitive designs.I love to explore the possibility of working in mixed media and pushing the limits of what can be done with it.

I have exhibited in many galleries and museums in the greater Boston and New England area. I have shown my work extensively in New York city.I had a one woman show at The New Art Center in New York City.
