Imogen Reid

Born 1973 in London. Primarily a self-taught painter, in 2010 completed a postgraduate diploma at Byam Shaw (Central Saint Martins) in Fine Art. Using found photographic images, produces intimate small oil paintings on board, and copper-faced wood panels. A contemporary realist, my interest is in illustrating the suburban and domestic, communicating the reassuringly familiar and gently oppressive social interactions I observed during my British upbringing. Recent pieces concentrate on images of children from family photo albums, retrospective group and self-portraits.

I am also interested in depicting landscape, both natural and urban, as a continuation of my narrative on heritage and identity.
