Jeff Newman's primary inspirations date back to childhood when he perused his grandmother’s art library, filled with Russian academic art, impressionists, post impressionists, expressionists, cubists, and abstractionists.
Jeff has been creating art seriously since his retirement while living in NYC and now in California. His work has been shown in NYC galleries and pop-up art shows. Jeff’s artistic philosophy combines intellectual analysis with emotional interpretation by applying technical skill sets acquired through practice and study.
His paintings combine cubism, surrealism, impressionism, academic techniques and sensibilities in the use of light, dimension, and hue to spark an emotional response.
Jeff Newman’s art education began at a very young age under the eye of his grandmother who was a painter and interior decorator. He has studied drawing and painting under Iliya Mirochnik, Slava Korolenkov, and at the Bridgeview School of Fine Arts in Queens, NY.
