Jamie-Lee
A South African born Artist who grew up in the vibrant and diverse city of Johannesburg. She moved to Cape Town after studying fashion design in Johannesburg. After dabbling in a number of different careers she finally decided in 2015 to pursue her career in art.

Jamie-Lee states that one of her greatest inspirations has been Henry Matisse because of his extraordinary use of colour. A quote that resonates deeply with her from Matisse “The essential thing is to spring forth, to express the bolt of lightning one senses upon contact with a thing. The function of the artist is not to translate an observation but to express the shock of the object on his nature; the shock, with the original reaction” Henri Matisse

Since 2007 Jamie-Lee has studied under a number of different teachers, which have all had influence to her style of painting. Before Jamie-Lee decided to leap into her career as a professional artist, she did a number of commission pieces and has recently been exhibited at the Alliance Francaise and Young Blood Gallery in Cape Town South Africa.
