I started drawing at a young age, as did my siblings who are both artists in The Netherlands. I clearly remember my father showing me as a 3-year-old how to draw a bird. The joy of my bird actually looking like a bird can still be felt.
Painting abstracts is a very emotional often unconscious process. Often being led by a color scheme, size, and shape of canvas or something seen or experienced that doesn't want to leave me.
Painting woman seems to come natural. It centers me and brings me to a place of joy and recognition. I honor their strength, wisdom, vulnerability, and emotional complexities. We truly are the salt of the earth.
I contribute my colorfulness and bold moves to having lived in Suriname, South America, and as a young adult having had a Modern dance career in New York.
Just a few of the great artists I feel inspired and some want to thank, Peter Doig, Schiele, Corneille, Gerhard Richter, Moebius, Rubes, Jake Scott, Cassandra Bertels.
