Claudia Caponi

I have worked with different mediums, finding at last the one that inspires me the most: painting. An artist should be free to try any medium, until they find the one that suits them best. My art is mainly inspired by the work of old masters. I would like to re-interpret their work but with a new, modern language. I love the way they did their own paintings, varnishings, supports, so I do the same, always investigating the materials they used, even if some of them can't be found on the market today.

I graduated in Architecture in Caracas, Venezuela. I guess I'm like the german Expressionists: Architect by profession but Painter by vocation. I went to the Rhode Island School of Design (Providence, R.I. USA), in there I learned many techniques and meet lots of interesting people. In Barcelona (Spain), a city with a strong modernist attachment, I studied at the school Llotja, muralism. In here I meet a very special group, we founded a collective and we wrote our own manifesto.I had several exhibitions in Caracas (Venezuela), Turin (Italy), Philadelphia (USA), Lisbon (Portugal), and Barcelona (Spain).
