Nikolay Lavetsky graduated from the Theoretical Physics faculty of National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute) with a degree in "The Physics of Metals and Metallography” in 1971.
Before University he took a two-year preparatory course of drawing at the Moscow Architectural Institute (MArchI).
Nikolay Lavetsky works in the manner of Pararealism, the art of presenting beauty supersaturated by information, beauty of intellectuals depicting the real in the abstract and the abstract in the real, the ultimate limit to the contradictions of the absurd and further aggravation of ideas, forms, images, sophisticated drawings and complexity of meaning, which creates mystic allegories about the universe.
For more than thirty years he has been creating numerous figure compositions, portraits and still lives (paintings and graphics) which he exhibits in galleries and sells from his studio in Moscow.
Since 2017 Nikolay Lavetsky has become a Member of MONDIAL ART ACADEMIA.
In 1990 Nikolay Lavetsky ceases working in book graphics and devotes himself entirely to painting.
In 1978 he got an award of the International Exhibition of Caricaturists in Gabrovo (Bulgaria).
