Lawrence Fawcett

My father was in the State Department and I was born in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. I spent my first 16 years traveling the world and living in various foreign countries. My first introduction to Art was at the age of 4 painting our metal fence and finger painting in the basement.When I was eight the coolest room in our house was under the staircase where my older brother by 7 years had his darkroom setup. Currently photographing as I travel and working on the images digitally with Photoshop and Corel. Previously I had photographed with a Linhof Tecknika and hand worked the 4x5 inch negatives. I have a Bachelor Degree in Fine Art from the California College of Art in the Bay Area.
I Think of Art as a way of processing my experiences and having uninhibited fun.
A child like innocence is crucial to my work. I like seeing things creatively. Like many Artists I feel my work is uniquely different.And maybe it isn't. So be it.

Childhood spent in Ecuador, Portugal, Bangladesh , India and Brazil. Some boarding schooling at Western Reserve Academy, Hudson, Ohio in 9th and Tenth grades before returning to India, Bangladesh and Washington DC.
First college year at Edinboro State after summer schooling at Parsons in N.Y.C.
Nine years in the Bay Area : 1979-1989.
A  BFA from California College of Arts in Oakland in 1982.
