My paintings and collages have a narrative quality - as if revealing a scene from a story in progress. Central to most of "my stories" is a female figure who is often accompanied by recurring animal guides like spotted eagle rays, wolves or birds. Environmental, social or other commentary might also weave their way into my work, although it's voice is often subtle.

My undergraduate degree is in biological sciences from the University of California-Davis.

Early in my art career I focused on illustrating children's books - both trade and for the educational market. Publishers include Houghton Mifflin Co., Albert Whitman & Co., Richard C. Owen Publishers, The Pearson Learning Group, Addison-Wesley, Lee and Low, Ladybug Magazine.
