Michael Chomse

Michael Chomse studied Fine Art at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town, South Africa, in the late seventies. It was a tumultuous time. He moved from there directly into a career as a documentary filmmaker, seeking the wider audiences that film offered his growing social conscience.

Through thirty years of filmmaking, he has honed his visual and storytelling skills to the point where direct contact with paint and canvas is a necessity for his future development. He continues telling stories that have impacted him through the medium of paint on canvas .

He is currently working closely with select artists in Europe, Canada and the USA, developing work that reflects a global perspective in the search for a new visual language.
