Pablo Montes

I seek to project authentic, intimate interpretations of the world I encounter. As a native of Puerto Rico, I am influenced by the characters, emotions, images, and colors associated with the island. Sometimes I turn to my childhood memories to address the existential questions I want to express.

I've recently explored the concepts of time, energy, light, and space through my paintings and drawings. This has led me to work with hybrid subjects and media that can converge figuration with traits of abstraction and surrealism.

I use symbolism and distortions to bridge the figures and their environment, creating scenes where surrounding energies and time metaphors serve as the glue of an idea.
